Dragonball: Evolution

Anyone who knows me knows that I am a huge fan of all this Dragonball and Dragonball Z (we don’t talk about Gt).  So despite knowing that it was going to be the worst thing ever, I had still planned on going to see the new live-action movie: Dragonball: Evolution.

However, when 4chan linked me to a stream of the movie online, I took advantage of the situation.  I immediately was happy I did not spend upwards of ten bucks to watch this horrid piece of crap.

I’m not even going to pull any punches here: this movie is THE worst movie I have ever watched.  And I’ve seen Glitter and Honey and Gigli (don’t judge me, blame cable television).

If I walked into this movie never seeing dragonball before, I would have zero idea what the plot of the movie was.  I knew he each of the characters was, and that prior knowledge was the only thing that made the “character pairings” mak any sense.  Chichi hates Goku, then is madly in love with him.  Bulma falls down a hole due to Yamcha, and immediately they are a couple.

And Yamcha talks like a surfer?  What the fuck?

Bulma is threatening to shoot people with guns?  Granted, in the show she does shoot Goku with a tommy gun or something crazy like that, but she doesn’t run around the entire time blowing bullets into everyone.  And to top it all off, she talks like she’s been a 12-pack-a-day smoker since she was in the womb.

There is one redeeming quality of this movie: Chichi is hot.  Bulma is quasi, and Mai is pretty good..but Chichi is fine.

But the storyline?  No.  Just…no.  It’s like the creators opened up a book of dragonball, randomly grabbed names and saw character pairings, and then wrote the movie from there.  The storyline is chopped up.  Characters are enemies at one point and allies the next, at each other’s throats and then madly in love, are completely ignorant of a situation and all of a sudden know everything….

Do not see this movie.  Don’t even go to the cheap seats.  Avoid it like the plague.

Lots of News

Lots of big things happening here!  First off, our good buddy Jeshua (aka Miroku) has gotten himself a nicer place to live!  Congrats on him!  And soon he’s going to have a car to his name and a fresh license to drive it around.  Congrats!

Secondly, we welcome in Shaggy to the crew.  He is our new Camera Whore Man!  We are happy to have him aboard.

Anime Express 11 is coming up soon, and we are happy to report that we have some great stuff planned.  Not only do we have our Whose Line is it aniRAGE show, but we have some new stuff planned for you guys (and it’s a lot better than the “new stuff” we unveiled last year).

We can’t wait to see all of our friends again…from the Animebelle gang, to Eevee, to Veggies…and not to mention Meredith!

We’ll see you guys there!

2 weeks til

Well AEXI is 2 weeks away now and the pre-con jitters are beginning to arrive. Like the penguins, they are stealing my sanity.  Then again I don’t think I have sanity left in my seeing how I checked it in at the door with the chocobo in my room. Hmm, what was typing again? Oh yeah!  Can’t wait to see y’all March 13-15 2009 at Anime Express XI in sunny Daytona Beach.

It’s not fun…

For the past 6 days, I’ve been out of town, a cloak of sadness covering my mind.

Last friday, the 13th, I got news that my grandfather (“PaPa” as the family and I knew him as) passed away suddenly at his home in Monroe, Louisiana.  The cause was supposedly a heart attack to which he didn’t recover.

I was sitting in my room, enjoying a game of Castle Crashers, when a friend of the family called from my PaPa’s house, asking for mother.  I asked what was wrong, but he told me he didn’t know.  Later on, I got a call from mom, with obvious signs that she was crying, and informed me that he had died.  I hung up the phone, proceeding to cry and wail with all of my soul.  I had lost someone dear to me, and I cried.

So my mother and I arrived in Monroe, and we put him to rest.  We cried, we recalled memories of his love and caring nature.  And we even discovered letters between him and MaMa as well.

But all is said and done, and we head home tomorrow.  But as I look back on the events that led to now, I realize that it’s because of not only my PaPa, but my entire family and friends that I do what I do.  I give my support and I give my time with aniRAGE to give our fans and first-time watchers something they won’t soon forget.  I help to give them the gift of laughter and entertainment.

You don’t know what’s lost till it’s not there anymore.  I realize that more than ever.  But I also realize that the memories will never fade if you take time to remember.

In my absence, the new video hasn’t been edited yet.  I apologize for the lateness, and will be getting it edited and uploaded to YouTube before the end of next week.
