Metrocon 2011 is in the books!

Man, what a weekend! I had to take a few days to collect my thoughts after such an action filled weekend. What happened? Buckle up and find out!

Thursday rolled through with a nice half-day of work for me. On our way down to Tampa, we made a pit stop in Ormond Beach to collect an old friend whom we hadn’t seen in almost two years: Eevee! She had moved to Oklahoma and it was nice to be able to spend a con weekend with her. She brought along her brother Parks, who was quiet at first. But anyone who has ever hung out with aniRAGE knows: that didn’t last for long! The road to Tampa was calm, and we soon got to our hotel room and settled in. We did our typical pre-con ritual: order pizza. Steak + pepperoni = massive win, in case you were unaware. Highly recommended.

Friday opened up with some practice for Animebelle’s Japanese Fairy Tale Theater. For the third year, we brought the con-goers some great fairy tale reenactments, and it was an amazing show…but I’ll get to that later. Soon it was off for Opening Ceremonies, and Animebelle had quite the plan for that. Both myself and Miroku got to emerge from The Gate and join Animebelle on stage to help pimp out Fairy Tale Theater…it was definitely an awesome experience…one I hope to do again!

Following that, I made a surprise appearance as Ninja Tech Support ™ at the Sasori vs Kankuro panel, put on by our friend Chris our very own Miroku. They needed a computer, and i delivered! I got quite the pop when I entered the room and announced Ninja Tech Support was there to save the day (if I do say so myself). Their panel was quite hilarious, and Sasori ended up trumping Kankuro at the end.

After joining Kayla at a Crispen Freeman meet-and-greet, we got a bite to eat before getting ready for the Metrocon Fantasy Masquerade. There was a lot of preparation to go into that event, and it was all hush hush because someone was in for a surprise. After getting dressed as Lupin the Third, and Kayla joining me as Fujiko, we were able to witness our very own Jeshua Cook (aka Miroku) get down on one knee and propose to his (now) fiancee in front of the whole crowd. Needless to say, the crowd went wild, and it was definitely a special night. You’re welcome, buddy!

The night ended with some delicious cheeseburgers, and a not-so-delicious redneck whistling at the helpless food workers that his “food was getting cold” as they were preparing his order. Thankfully, we didn’t have to put up with that for very much longer.

We got up early once again to do more Fairy Tale Theater preparation. Afterwards, yours truly crashed for the next few hours. But I still managed to make it out to catch the AMV contest and the costume contest. Congrats to our good friend Shella Maxhimer for winning “Best Instrumental” in the AMV contest, and Lottie Warren for “Best Convention Photo” in Metrocon’s “Picture This!” contest!

Then it came the big moment, it was the third year of Fairy Tale Theater. I always love performing in this event, and not just because I get to take on some awesome roles in timeless Japanese Fairy Tales. I also have, for pretty much 3 years now, been in charge of the Manzai Comedy bits. Manzai Comedy is your standard straight-man/silly-man comedy duo, and it’s a heck of a lot of fun! This years, we did 4 manzai bits, one of which was a recurring joke throughout the whole show. It was a lot of fun, and if you missed it, you missed a ton of fun! Despite some technical difficulties, we managed to do a hell of a show, and if you wanna catch it again, stay tuned for our next big con! It was definitely a fun way to end the day.

Sunday began as all sundaes do at Metrocon…sleeping while everyone else is busy packing! Go go gadget: leaving monday morning! Definitely makes things less stressful! We got up in time to make it to the Sunday showing of the Metrocon Original Anime Human Chess Match! After last year, we were a bit worried, but this year was awesome, and it definitely got me pumped up. After the Chess Match, we got to kill some time before closing ceremonies, and we definitely got excited to hear that next year will be the 10 year anniversary blow-out, and that Metrocon is going to be working with the Japanese Embassy to get some high-class guests! And not only that, but the theme for next year is Agents vs Outlaws. Outlaws you say? Lupin the Third, my newest favoritest cosplay is an outlaw, hmmm? Perhaps he’ll be in the show…and perhaps I might just throw my name in the hat to play him. Mwua ha ha.

It was definitely a fun year…and we are busy at work here at the aniRAGE Home Base to get our awesome Pictures and sweet videos out for you guys to enjoy, and to relive an awesome weekend. So stay tuned!

Upcoming aniRAGE Awesomeness.

Freecon is in the books! That’s right, after many hours of travel, and a fun day of running around like fools, aniRAGE rocked the house with our Whose Line is it aniRAGE? show! We debuted not just one, not two, but THREE new games at the show: Banned Letter, 1 3 5 Any, and Interrogation! We hope to have a video compilation of the performance up soon, and stay tuned for some great pictures not only from Megacon but Freecon as well!

Next up in the schedule is Anime Day Jacksonville! The Jax crew of aniRAGE is going to be making an appearance, hanging out with the con goers, passing out flyers and business cards, and snapping pictures! Of course, where there is aniRAGE there are cameras and camcorders, so you never know what is going to happen! Keep your eyes peeled for the guys in the aniRAGE shirts, you never know when you might find yourself on the net!

Of course, coming up in a few short months is Metrocon 2011. Zeke and Kayla have press badges, so they will be there to document the whole weekend with pictures and videos aplenty! Make sure to make it down to Tampa for what will surely be a great weekend. Our good friend Ashley Clark will be there with Fairytale Theater, and some awesome people we met at ShadoCon (Kara Edwards and Kyle Herbert) will be guests! And returning this year are Scott McNeil, Brad Swaile, KellyJane and TealPirate, Yaya Han, and more! Another two big guests coming are Crispin Freeman (I can still hear Kayla squealing in the background now) and Max Brooks (writer of World War Z and the Zombie Survival Guide, son of legendary Mel Brooks). It’s a great lineup, so make sure to look for aniRAGE!

We have some great stuff in the works for all of you, and we can’t wait to announce some excellent new projects! So stay tuned here at anirage.com, and make sure to check us out on the web elsewhere at twitter(@aniragecomedy) and facebook(facebook.com/anirage)!

Hey everybody!

It’s me, again! I noticed it’s been a few since I last wrote anything, so I figured I’d just hop on and say,”Howdy!” Not much going on in my scene. Still goofing around with the folks from W.O.T.S. and just got done with a great pre-con practice for FreeCon (can’t wait till the guys post our practice runs of a new game we’re trying out). Also, my Fiancee has just picked out her wedding dress and has been bubbly about it ever since (That’s right! Everyone’s favorite monk IS set to be getting married this year. Sorry to have broken any of your hearts…).

That’s about the it of it, for me. I’m really looking forward to FreeCon and then to being able to see everyone at Metro, Exp, Shado, and every/any con/event we’ll be attending. So, watch out for us and for more awesome content here on the site! Catch you all later!

Upcoming aniRAGE Appearances!

Hey errbody (that’s hip-hop for “everybody”. I’ve been listening to way too much T-Pain and Lil Wayne, I’m afraid). The next few months have some great stuff in store!

We are about two weeks away from MegaCon 2011! Join Zeke and Kerby has they run amok at the convention, taking pictures, shooting some videos, and hanging out with our fellow con friends. No performances this time around, but that doesn’t mean we won’t be finding some fun stuff to do. Look out for us all three days!

Two weeks after that is Tallahassee’s own FreeCon 20011. We are bringing our Whose Line is it aniRAGE? show there, so make sure to check it out! Plus, we’ll be there with our good friends AnimeBelle and if you’ve ever been t one of her panels before, you’ll know it’ll be a blast.

In May is the newly announced Jacksonville Anime Day. Since it’s taking place in Jacksonville, I’m sure you’ll see us there in some form or fashion. Definitely stop by in the area and bring out your costumes for awesome pictures.

The very next month, we are proud to announce that we will be bringing out cameras to Metrocon 2011! Our own photographer Kayla (and Zeke, of course) have gained Press Badges, so we will be scouring the halls for the best cosplay around. And what would Metrocon be without Animebelle’s own Fairy Tale Theater! Make sure to come check out what will be a wonderful performance. We’ll have more info on this as time goes on, but definitely check out Animebelle’s site for up to date information!

This is going to be an awesome year, and I know that I can speak for all of us here in aniRAGE when we say we want to see all of you there!

Until next time,
-Zeke
